Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I register and join Jackson Fury as a new player?
Answer: Please review all registration materials, download the
appropriate forms, follow the instructions, and mail
the Registration Form and fee deposit to the address provided. New players,
optional for elementary school students and recommended for middle school
students, may tryout Jackson Fury by attending an
indoor practice for their age group. If you have any questions, please contact Tom Strock at tstrock@jacksonfury.com.
-
I play with Jackson Fury now, do I have to register?
Answer: YES, but it is easy! Simply pay the
Spring deposit as billed on the Indoor 2 final fee invoice. Failure to pay the
Spring deposit (on the Indoor 2 invoice) by Feb 4, 2012 will result in the
player not being included on the Spring team league commitments. After
Feb 4, parents must submit the returning player registration form
and deposit for returning players.
-
I missed registration. Can I register late?
Answer: MAYBE. Please contact Tom Strock at tstrock@jacksonfury.com.
Open rosters spots on registered teams will be filled with late
registrations. You can verify a roster spot is open or simply mail the
registration paperwork. NOTE: Late registration roster spots are
filled according to the receipt of completed registration paperwork.
Roster positions will not be held based on phone calls or emails!
-
When are practices? When are games?
Answer: Practices typically start between 4:30 and 6:30 PM,
for 1-1/2 hour, Monday through Friday, at the Jackson Park Soccer
Fields. Practices for players in Middle School may start as early as
3:30 PM. Games are
typically on Saturday or Sunday but a few games will also be scheduled by the league on
weeknight evenings.
-
How much experience is required to play competitive
soccer?
Answer: Most players have a year or two of
recreational soccer experience. Minimal experience is required for 7-11 year olds since we will provide basic soccer training at these age
groups. 12-14 year old players should be athletic with 2-3 years of
recreational experience for competitive teams.
-
Do I have to attend evaluations or tryouts?
Answer: No. All players who register by the
published deadline will be assigned to an age appropriate, competitive
team. Basic soccer instruction is provided for players 7 to 11 years
old and many new players start with little experience. New players may
attend a club practice so that they can
experience and "try-out" a typical competitive soccer practice
before parents make the necessary time and financial commitments. Rarely are
players cut but, occasionally, new players do not enjoy the effort required to
play competitive soccer and drop-out.
-
What schools do current players attend?
Answer: Current competitive players attend Jackson
Memorial Middle School, Strausser Elementary, Sauder Elementary, Lake Cable Elementary, Amherst
Elementary, St. Marys, St. Phillips and James, St. Michaels, St. Pauls,
Northwest Local, Perry Local, Green, N. Canton and Massillon schools. Except for
special situations, competitive team players are encouraged to stay with
their local community team. Premier players are welcome from Jackson
Twp and all community competitive soccer clubs.
